The L Magazine, April 2003

Hi. I'm Danny Stedman, and this is my personal site.  Over the past fifteen years, I have founded Pressto, an edtech company, and grew Northside into a multi-platform business with several print, digital & social media properties including Brooklyn Magazine, tastetalks.com, BAMbill and The L Magazine and several large-scale festivals including Northside Festival, SummerScreen and Taste Talks, and well as a creative agency working with many of the most innovative companies in the world.  Northside was acquired by Zealot Networks in 2015. I'm also an award-winning film director and live in Brooklyn. I like deli coffee, gluten, and salisbury steak.

Our Story

The Stedman Brothers launched The L Magazine in April of 2003, at a time when a generation of dreamers were moving to New York City and landing in Brooklyn.  The result was hundreds of thousands of people bursting with creative energy all within a couple of square miles, and Brooklyn, which has long been a home for artists, was reborn into the international adjective that it has become.  SummerScreen was launched in the McCarren Pool in the summer of 2005.  Rolling Stone called it “the coolest venue in the country”. The annual Northside Festival was created in June of 2007, and then followed Brooklyn Magazine, a partnership with BAM to produce the BAMbill, and Taste Talks.
